Topic
Small Town Turnaround
How do we get a resident to clean up their yard? What can the city do with a vacant or derelict building? Can the city acquire nuisance properties? These are just a few of the questions that city officials frequently ask when confronted with nuisance and vacant homes, buildings and other structures in their community. We will address these issues in a two-part conversation aimed to give cities an overview of nuisance abatement processes, the tools they have to turnaround vacant properties and how to proactively work with neighbors to keep the community in good shape. The evening will include successful case studies of small cities that have worked to make improvements to their town.
