Governor Vetoes Collective Bargaining Bill
On April 14, Governor Culver announced at a press conference that
he has vetoed the collective bargaining bill HF 2645. This bill would
have made significant detrimental changes to the current law, and had been
adamantly opposed by the League of Cities. The Legislative team thanks all city
members who contacted the Governor and asked him to veto this legislation. Your
help in conveying cities’ concerns with the rapid process by which the
legislation passed, and the harmful effects for Iowa communities clearly made a
positive difference.
