MLA Part Three: Part Three will build on the basics introduced in the first two sessions. Pending legislation will be discussed and time is reserved to talk about the hottest topic affecting cities at the time. Economic development financing will be a prime topic. Attendees will learn about Tax Increment Financing (TIF) and other tools used by cities to retain and attract businesses and housing. A good portion of time will also be spent on community betterment, which will include a discussion and examples of options to improve cities, including junk car elimination and welcome signs.
