The Iowa Office of Energy Independence is currently seeking proposals for community-based energy projects through the Power Fund Community Grants Program. A total of up to $850,000 is available during this application period. There is a maximum per project award of $50,000 with a 1-to-1 match required. The deadline for applications is August 13, 2010 at 4:00 p.m.

About the Community Grants Program
The Community Grants program is funded through four percent of the annual appropriation of the Iowa Power Fund. Cities, counties and non-profit organizations are eligible to apply for up to $50,000 to support community-based programs. Examples of qualified programs include: promoting local energy efficiency and renewable energy, establishing a community energy efficiency plan, training or creating jobs in the energy area, creating public awareness about energy issues or helping community members understand how to identify and implement energy improvements.
