Clerk/Finance Officer Resources

The city clerk is the backbone of city government. By state law, every city council must appoint a city clerk in order to fulfill duties such as completing budget forms, managing the city monetary accounts, responding to citizen needs and a host of other items as required by state and federal laws. Recognizing the important job city clerks perform in Iowa, the League is providing this separate resource area for city clerks.

In addition to the League, the Iowa Municipal Finance Officer Association (IMFOA) is an organization whose goal is to enable members to gain the knowledge and ability to accomplish their tasks as a municipal finance officer. There are several benefits to belonging to IMFOA, including member rates for IMFOA workshops and the chance to sign up for the IMFOA list service ClerkNet.

If you know of any additional resources that should be listed here or have questions concerning this section, please contact the League by email or telephone at (515) 244-7282. If the question pertains to an individual resource, please include the name of the resource.
