The Iowa League of Cities has several opportunities for businesses and organizations to advertise to our members. A monthly opportunity is through the Cityscape magazine, a 28-page full color publication that is mailed directly to League members. Annually, there are several options to advertise at the Annual Conference and Exhibit with sponsorships, print ads in the program guide or purchasing space in our exhibit hall. A third way to advertise with us is in our biennial City Directory; print ad space can be purchased in the "services" section with potential use by our members for two years.

Cityscape Advertising

The League's Cityscape magazine is one of the primary sources of information for city officials in Iowa. Each month the magazine is delivered to 870 key officials in League member cities and has a circulation of approximately 5,000. If your organization provides services for municipalities, advertising in Cityscape is an effective way of getting your message out to thousands of municipal decision-makers in Iowa. Click here to download an advertising contract. Placements can be made for one month or an entire year. A great way to save on Cityscape advertising is through frequency; choose to insert your ad seven or more times per contract and receive an additional 5 percent discount. Contact the League office to receive a free copy of Cityscape magazine.

NEW! Contract seven or more ads, a third page or larger, per contract and receive a complimentary 250 word article about your product or service. Your company is responsible for submitting the article, which will be subject to edits and printed on a date determined by the League. Annual Conference & Exhibit

Hundreds of city officials gather for the League's Annual Conference & Exhibit each year. The three-day event has several options for an organization to get their message out to attendees. Click here for more information on the Exhibit Hall, Program Guide advertising and sponsorships.

City Directory (biennial publication)

Every day thousands of city officials across Iowa refer to the League's City Directory, a comprehensive listing of city officials from every city in the state. This printed guide is a wire-bound 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" reference that is sent to all cities upon its publication in early spring of even-numbered years (exe: 2010, 2012 and the next publication will be in 2012). The Directory features the names and titles of key officials, both elected and appointed as well as the city hall address, postal address, phone and fax numbers, city hall office hours, location by county, council meeting schedule and the form of government. The Directory also includes a "Services" section, which lists business and organization by categories. This directory is the first place city leaders look when hiring consultants, requesting bids and purchasing supplies. Advertising options run from a company listing to several display ad sizes. Advertisers also receive a complimentary copy of the Directory. In addition to receiving an advertising discount, Associate Members automatically receive a free listing in the Service section.

Artwork File Format

We accept artwork via email or cd as a digital file. An ftp upload site is also available upon request for larger files. Artwork needs a resolution of 300 dpi or greater, saved as a TIF, EPS, JPG or PDF. Fonts must be included as outlines or embedded in the files. Need help designing an ad? We offer design services for $80 an ad. Any corrective work will be charged by the hour.
