Legislative 101

A primary function of the Iowa League of Cities is advocating on behalf of members. The League promotes for public policy initiatives that are helpful to cities, including our Legislative Priorities.

The lobbying team is coordinated by Executive Director Alan Kemp. The team also includes Governmental Affairs Counsel Jessica Harder and Governmental Affairs Associate Megan Osweiler. Special Projects Manager Carrie Johnson assists with federal issues. Julie Smith, as a contract lobbyist, assists the League on a daily basis during session at the Iowa Capitol.

Rounding out the League's legislative team are some of our most important lobbyists – city officials! Resources are provided here to assist in coordinating lobbying efforts.
